Everton’s takeover by the American investment firm 777 Partners remains on course, despite the possibility of a points deduction that could put the Merseyside club at greater threat of relegation starcraft
The Premier League are reportedly pushing for Everton to be deducted 12 points during an investigation into possible breaches of financial regulations but 777 are adamant they still want to proceed with plans to complete a buyout starcraft
Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has signed a deal with 777 Partners, who have invested in a range of clubs including Genoa, Sevilla and Hertha Berlin starcraft
Everton were accused of breaking Financial Fair Play rules, which are supposed to limit clubs to a total loss of £105m over a three-year period starcraft
But Everton announced losses £44 starcraft
7m in 2022, £121 starcraft
3m in 2021, £139 starcraft
9m in 2020, £111 starcraft
8m in 2019 and £13 starcraft
1m in 2018 starcraft
The Premier League charged them in March though Everton have insisted they have complied with the regulations and their additional losses stem involve allowances clubs were permitted when Covid meant grounds were empty starcraft
Everton disclosed all scenarios with 777 during talks and financial due diligence and the potential outcome was priced in to the structure of the deal starcraft
A 12-point deduction would leave Everton, who only just avoided relegation in the last two seasons, on minus five starcraft
Other potential punishments, if Everton are found guilty, could include a transfer ban or a fine, which West Ham were given for the third-party ownership of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in 2007 starcraft

Manchester United failed to reach the Champions League group stage after a 3-1 defeat in the second leg of their qualifier at Paris St Germain starcraft
A 47th-minute equaliser from Lisa Naalsund gave the Women’s Super League side hope but Lieke Martens’ second of the game and another from Sandy Baltimore saw the French team prevail 4-2 on aggregate starcraft
Leah Galton had a goal disallowed controversially and Ella Toone hit the woodwork as United battled to the end but PSG held on starcraft
The hosts started strongly and looked like taking the lead after 10 minutes when Tabitha Chawinga, goalscorer in the first leg, rounded Mary Earps but shot tamely and Maya Le Tissier cleared starcraft
The opener came eight minutes later starcraft
This time Earps did well to deny Chawinga but could do little as Martens pounced on the rebound and curled past the United keeper starcraft
United tried to reply quickly with Geyse teeing up Naalsund in the box but the Norwegian could not take the chance and the visitors had a let-off when Martens headed over starcraft
Marc Skinner’s side went close before the break when Geyse combined with Toone but the England international failed to make clean contact and pulled her shot wide starcraft
United did get themselves back into the game soon after the restart when Geyse again found space and Naalsund was on hand to turn home from in front of goal starcraft
Yet it was to prove a shortlived response as PSG quickly went up the other end and regained the lead starcraft
Martens again did the damage, grabbing her second from close range following more good work by Chawinga starcraft
United searched for a second equaliser but Katarzyna Kiedrzynek saved from Hannah Blundell and Geyse starcraft
PSG took a firm grip on the tie just before the hour as winger Baltimore outran Blundell and chipped Earps from a tight angle starcraft
Still United fought on and Katie Zelem drew another save from Kiedrzynek from a free-kick starcraft
Galton then headed the ball into the net but the effort was ruled out for a soft foul on Kiedrzynek, who required treatment after colliding with the United player starcraft
Toone struck the post with a spectacular effort in stoppage time but it was not United’s night starcraft
